Terrain: Labastida, in the Rioja Alavesa, can be found at the highest, most northern edge of Rioja, were climactic conditions are nearly ideal for wine production. The soil is a mixture of clay and limestone, and is made up of mostly southwest facing terraces. Average rainfall is slightly over 15 inches per year.
Harvest: Hand picked and selected twice: initially in the vineyard, with a second selection on receipt at the winery.
Ageing: 12 months in French and American oak, followed by 24 months of bottle ageing.
Bottling: Bottled on the property.
Serving Temperature: Between 61º and 65º F

Tasting notes
Color: Deep garnet.
Nose: Initially you notice explosive, bright fruit: blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, followed by a slight oakiness.
Palate: A complex, but not overly heavy red wine, it goes well with lamb, beef, venison, or lighter fare like poultry, cheese or pizza.
